Kids Need Regular Check Ups Too!

Why Check Early, Check Often?

Because a child’s first years are critical to a healthy mind and body for life. Checking on a child’s development helps to:

  • make sure she is growing and learning well
  • identify strengths as well as areas that may need some practice
  • prepare her to be ready to learn in Kindergarten
  • make sure he is off to the best possible start

Ages and Stages Questionnaire (ASQ) provides a quick check on children’s development.  It’s an opportunity to learn about developmental milestones and fun learning activities.

Parents know their children best.  That’s why the questionnaires are designed to be filled out by them.

The goal of the ASQ Regional Project is to provide all families in the South Okanagan and Similkameen with children under 6 years old the opportunity to check in on their child’s development.  Our focus is on ages 2 and 3, so that there is plenty of time to get ready for Kindergarten.

Implementation is a gradual process.  We’ve recently launched the ASQ program in Oliver and Penticton. Find out where in Oliver or Penticton you can pick up a questionnaire.
