About Us
The Keremeos Communities For Kids (CFK) Community Table is a volunteer group that is always happy to welcome new members. If you wish to learn more about the Table or join, please contact us.
The Keremeos CFK Table has been meeting regularly since March 2006, to consider the early childhood development (ECD) needs of Keremeos. We meet at Orchard Haven Assisted Living on Friday mornings. This is when and where Barb Stewart of CAP-C (Community Action Program for Children) offers the Bridging the Generations program. Having our meetings at the same time and place as Bridging the Generations allows parents with children to attend CFK meetings, while their children visit the Orchard Haven residents with Barb.
Very early on, Keremeos Table members identified the importance of improving our community’s parks and playgrounds, and decided to make this our first project. With this in mind we began fund-raising for park improvements. We made the decision to start from the ground up, so logically new impact material for playgrounds was the first agenda item. With this in mind we held two pancake breakfasts in September 2005, to raise money and community awareness of the need to improve our parks. We have applied for funding, in partnership with the Village of Keremeos, to Success by 6® for impact material and playground equipment for Keremeos’ Pine Park.

Celebrating our Successes
We believe having our Table meetings at Orchard Haven during CAP-C’s Bridging the Generations program is a wonderful thing. This type of simple collaboration between two community organizations benefits CFK parents, their children, and the residents of Orchard Haven. The residents enjoy visiting with the children, and the CFK parents have the opportunity to meet while their children are busy playing. This is simple ECD community development at its best.
Pine Park Keremeos

Work is underway in Pine Park installing new playground equipment for children aged 0-6. The Communities for Kids Community Table purchased the equipment with an $18,850
Success by 6® grant. The installation work is being provided by the Village of Keremeos. Watch for news here of the opening celebration.

Plans
We plan to continue to look for ways to enhance the parks and playgrounds of Keremeos, and to explore the possibility of additional community programming for children from conception to age 6.
