About Us
Communities for Kids has been working with a group of Hedley residents (the Friends of Woodlie Park - led by Elef Christensen), to make improvements to Woodlie Park that support healthy early childhood development.

Celebrating our Successes
On November 6th, 2006, there was an exciting community event organized by Elef Christensen at Woodlie Park. The event was held to show the community what the new and improved park will look like when all the work is done. A cheque for $20,000 of Success By 6® funding was presented by Blair Lischeron (Project Coordinator) and Jim Insley (Communities for Kids Steering Committee member). This money will be used to purchase of a large piece of age appropriate playground equipment, and to improve children’s safety by upgrading the park’s fencing. Community champion Elef Christensen also unveiled a newly installed piece of playground equipment, purchased with $1,000 of Communities for Kids funding.
Lori McIntosh, representing Alex Atamanenko (NDP MP), read a statement from Mr. Atamanenko, noting, "This park is a testament to all those hard working volunteers and sponsors who care about kids". Other guests attended the event to congratulate the Friends of Woodlie Park, including MLA Harry Lali. "It's great to see communities pulling together in this way for kids. Congratulations on this project.", he said. Regional District Okanagan - Similkameen Chairman Dan Ashton and Area Director Joe Nitsch attended, along with Keremeos Mayor Walter Despot, and Upper Similkameen Indian Band manager Philippe Batini.
